Our Open House for prospective applicants is coming up on Monday. If you are interested in attending and haven’t yet registered, please do so at http://www.design.upenn.edu/admissions/open-house-and-ddp. The program begins at 9 am and continues throughout the day, with Happy Hour at 5:30. This is a perfect opportunity for you to meet faculty, admissions staff and students, tour the facilities and learn about our various programs. We hope to see you there!

We had a problem last year with applicants creating multiple accounts and then having their letters of recommendation attach to one of their unfinished applications. To avoid this, the on-line application system now will not allow applicants to create duplicate records. If you applied last year, this means you will need to create your new 2010 account with a different e-mail address than the one you used last year.

We're getting lots of questions about how to apply for the Stafford Loan. For directions, go to http://www.sfs.upenn.edu/loans/Graduate-Stafford-Loan-Programs.htm. By now, you should have set up your PennKey and password so you can access Penn InTouch. Select a lender from the lender list, log into the Penn Loan System, and access your “TBD Stafford” application by clicking on the link under "Personal Alerts". Input the required information to initiate application after which Penn will certify your loan and send your information to your lender. You will be notified by either e-mail or regular mail when your loan has been certified and you can file the Master Promissory Note. If you are a first time borrower at Penn, you will also have to complete your Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling.

The admissions notification letters were sent out via regular mail (air mail for overseas applicants) on Thursday so you should be receiving yours in the next week or two if you haven’t already. Financial aid letters were included with the accept packets and detail the grants, scholarships and loans for which you would be eligible, as long as we’ve received your financial aid application or FAFSA form.

The decision making process has been a long and arduous one, with hundreds of well-qualified applicants being reviewed. This year we had an even higher number of applicants than last year. We appreciate the time and effort you’ve all spent in putting together your material and following up with us, and hope you will be receiving good news!

Our admissions deadlines are coming up very soon for our Master's degree programs (January 15th for M.Arch, February 2nd for all other programs).

We have received many e-mails and phone calls from you asking if we have received your supporting materials. Please wait at least 4 days after submitting your application to contact us about your supporting materials. We understand that you are anxious about your status, but we need some time to open our packages and match transcripts and portfolios to applications.
